During one of our visit to NBHD SRL HQ Green House in Tokyo back in 2019, we came across some peculiar looking plants. Their peculiarity really caught
our eyes and peaked our interest. But to find more info on them proved to be quite challenging back then as it was uncommon and not easily available.
A couple of years on, during the MCO, one of our old friend, Jing who is in the landscaping business came to us and happens to be an exotic plants
enthusiast. He shares many interesting stories with us on his experience and that really got us hooked. Coincidencely around the same time, another good
friend of us, Feng approached us on learning pottery.
So we put two to two together, and that's how the Exotic Plant's Lover Club came about. The club blossoms out of our idea to gather all the plant's lovers
to share their experience and passion for plants and plant's keeping.
1. When did you start collecting exotic plants and how did it begin?
I started my journey as a collector somewhere back in 2018/2019. I came
across caudex plants in a magazine one day, which was featuring
Neighborhood Japan, and I was immediately attracted by its uniqueness and
striking look; I soon started to do more research on it.
2. Do you have a favorite type?
It’s hard to choose a favorite as I see each and every single one of my plants
is unique and special it its own way.
3. Do you have any tips to share especially for people who are new to
Caudex plants? Any specific species more suitable for beginners?
Caudex plants are not that difficult to care for as they can live without water
for quite some time. They are very similar to those dessert plants; and the 3
main elements are water, sunlight, and good ventilation. I would say, for
beginners, you may want to try and start with Pachypodium or Euphoria
species as these 2 are much easier to care for and quite hassle-free.

I started in 2018 when I saw Prodip Leung (Plant Of God ) posting and I was immediate attracted to exotic plants.
2. Do you have a favorite type?
All of the “Pachypodium” Genus are my favorites.
3. Do you have any tips to share especially for people who are new to
Caudex plants? Any specific species more suitable for beginners?
You will need a lot of patience, and practice moderation especially when it comes to watering these plants, as they do not need that much of water.
Also, another interest species that I would recommend to beginners is the Pachypodium brevicaule. Not only it is very easy to care, but another reason
is the name in chinese, comes from the Japanese God of Wealth, which means luck. If you are really lucky, with much love and care, this plant may
bloom for you a beautiful yellow flower.

During first MCO, our friend-Jing who had intrigued us with his collections of
exotic plant, then we started to make ourselves pots which lend a certain
charm to the exotic plant that we love.

Copiapoa columna alba are my favorites.

Caudex plants? Any specific species more suitable for beginners?
Choose what you like instead of follow. For me, I think is Agave.
