Converse x TheSoloist. Basketball Heritage Meets Crafted Utility
In his latest collaboration with Converse, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist., Takahiro explores American society through three style genres – basketball, rock and workwear.
For his latest execution with Converse — his focus is on a basketball sneaker whose history was written with rebellious spirit: the ERX 260.
Though short lived in its first appearance on the Converse lineup, the silhouette was adopted both on and off the court, contributing to unforgettable moments across fashion and basketball cultures. Worn by athletes, rock stars and skate legends alike, the silhouette now attracts creatives like Takahiro, who see a palette ripe with intrigue.
Fueled by his desire to modernize tactical wear through a rock lens, he emphasized the silhouette’s on-off wearability through the use of zippers. The resilient triple black premium leather upper plays host to suede accents and mismatched eyelets are featured on a removable zipper guard. Completing the transformation, a transparent rubber outsole secured with boot laces reads “Hello, Hello, Hello, I am the Soloist.”
With the intention of transcending written language, Takahiro applied his uniquely recognizable aesthetic to the silhouette to creating a one-of-a-kind commonality that seamlessly merges disparate style genres.
The Converse x The Soloist capsule will be launching on March 9th at CROSSOVER Sunway Pyramid and Online Store.
